Presidential Acountability
Understandably, some politicians want accountability if the Commander-in-Chief wants to engage in war. Here are a couple quotes calling for just such accountability:
"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
"I think it's also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn."
Sound like Senator Durbin or some other Democrat pleading for Bush to sign the current war bill on his desk?
No, these come from George W. Bush in 1999 calling for accountability from then President Bill Clinton.
